Travelling home from the opal fields - Port Augusta

We left Andamooka and Roxby Downs on a 24 degree sunny day with blue skies wearing a pair of thongs.  As we headed down to Port Augusta we could see the rain sweeping in over the Flinders Ranges.     We decided Port Augusta would be a great place to stop to break up our journey back to the City.    We had lovely modern accommodation at the Majestic Oasis Apartments  and ate the yummiest chinese from the Golden Pearl rhoping to do some fishing with the girls but we couldn't explore as much as we hoped as some rainy weather set in.  It didn't spoil the afternoon though as we got to see a beautiful rainbow with a back...

South Australian Outback Adventure to find some Opal!

Travelling to South Australia? We've got some great ideas for you! Have you thought about an Out back road trip???  We decided to pack up the three children and head North for some sunshine and some opal.    It's winter in Adelaide so it was the perfect excuse to submit to the opal fever and run from the cold and rain.   Our children are 6 years, 4 years & 10 months so embarking on a 7 hour drive for most would be fine, but for us with little ones, it could have been seen as a challenge.  Without children you could get there easily in a day but we chose to make an adventure of it.  We stopped at...
